Tuesdays with Niki: Three gal pals

Those of you who read my blog last week would have noticed that I introduced a new project in my life called Tuesdays with Niki. You can read the post here but essentially, I am making plans to spend each Tuesday with a different person as part of my resolution to spend more times with my friends.

The destination this time? Reunion at Bangsar Village II, my favourite non-halal restaurant (check out the yummy salted egg prawns below, my must have every time I’m there!).

Salted Egg Prawns!

So, yes, I had dinner with my friends there this week. Yup, not one but three of them!

Introducing Adeline, Jacq and Pat, all of whom are old *cough* friends of mine dating back to pre-Millenium. All of us had at one point or other worked in theatre. We had met each other during my early days of working with the arts. If I recall correctly, it was during Instant Cafe Theatre Company’s The Accidental Death of an Anarchist.

Pat was the stage manager, Adeline was the assistant producer while Jacq and I were working front-of-house. There is one other friend, Mei, who is holidaying somewhere so she couldn’t join us. She too was working front-oh-house.

They are camera shy so I have to represent them with a picture of Adeline below (check out her newly done nails).

Adeline the Shy Gal

Our dinner was on Monday night, and not Tuesday. This is because Pat is, like Mei, a jetsetter (hehe) and was due to leave for Bali on Tuesday. So we accommodated her, the diva. Tsk tsk. Good thing my project has a flexible name. This week, it is known as One Day Before Tuesday with Niki. Ta dah!

So, as I mentioned before, our venue of choice was Reunion. It is located at Level 2 of Bangsar Village II in Bangsar.

Drunken Chicken

One of my favourite dishes there is the drunken chicken. It is a cold dish, and served as a starter. And no, I don’t like it only because it’s got alcohol in it. The thing about it is that you can taste the wine, but it’s not so pungent that you get turned off. And the chicken is always fresh from my experience.

Besides that, I also recommend the hot and sour soup (which serves only one, unfortunately) and the veges in soup. Can’t remember the name of the vege. But these are my basic dishes!

That night, Adeline, Jacq and Pat also ordered the pork ribs (which were so so) as well as the yam dish (which was quite yummy).

Food galore

Food aside, it was the company that I enjoyed most. I haven’t met them all together in quite a few months (I dare say it’s been more than a year even). I’m starting to be very happy that I decided to do Tuesdays with Niki.

Now … time to plan for next week!
