Tuesdays with Niki: Catching up with the Doc
So, you thought I’d given up on Tuesdays with Niki huh? Well, in your face! Granted, I’ve not updated on it in a few weeks but I have perfect excuses called London, Thailand and Chinese New Year. Hah!
Anyhow, I thought I’d save those meals for the blog posts on my trips (which, I know, I know, is still outstanding). I’ve got a couple of other issues I wanna bring up as well but catching up on life after 3 weeks out of the routine is proving tough.
Let me get myself together, yeah?
In the mean time, I had dinner with a good friend of mine yesterday who I’ve not met in a while as he lives in the US. Kee Thai, or Doc, as I call him, has known me since we were 16 and met in Ipoh where we rafted down Sungai Perak from as part of the BRATs (Bright, Roving, Annoying Teens) programme in 1995.
We only reconnected about two years ago when he came back and have been in touch regularly since. Aside from being terribly smart and cute (yes girls, he’s available. I’ll auction his mobile number off later but I take a big commission!), the dude has also been a great listener when I whinge and whine about life.
Kee Thai and I met up at Laila’s Kelana <Facebook> (B-7-1, Blk B, Plaza Kelana Jaya, Jln. SS7/13A, 47301 PJ | Tel: 03 7877 6787) which is run by my friend Juliet. The place has a limited, but very yummy menu of home cooked food. The food serves one person so what I like to do is get a few dishes and share.
Yesterday, we had the Mushroom and Chicken, Chicken and Potato Stew, mixed vegetables and some beef thing (I don’t eat beef so Kee Thai ordered it and, er, I didn’t bother finding out what it was!).
I actually do like the food at Laila’s, and its nice and cozy by the lake at Kelana Jaya. Nice and casual.
Good to see you again, Doc. Come back soon (sorry girls, he’s leaving the country tomorrow).
The Doc and I usually keep in touch via social networking tools like Facebook. And the best thing is, and you guys surely know this already, that you don’t need just a computer to log on to your favourite social networking site! All you need is a good smartphone!
Well, if you’ve been considering getting one, why not opt for the new BlackBerry Storm 9520? You can get one from Celcom, the first telco in South East Asia to launch the phone. Best part of the phone is that it comes pre-installed with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Windows Live, the BlackBerry Messenger and more!
You can get some nice promotional packages from Celcom for this phone through the Celcom Exec postpaid plans, so why not check it out soon?
