Now you can write and drive with the Laptop Steering Wheel Desk
It’s a short week but if you’re still suffering from the Monday blues, maybe this blog post might help cheer you up.
I actually came across this item on Amazon a few days ago via someone’s blog (I forget who now). I thought it was hilarious. I’m not even sure if the Laptop Steering Wheel Desk is even really for sale but it’s been more than a week, and Amazon hasn’t yet removed it from its site. So I am assuming its real.
What is it? Well, the term Laptop used can really mean two things. It’s really a desk that sits on top of your lap (attached to the steering wheel) when you’re in the car, and I suppose it could fit a laptop too.
Here are some images that the site has up to promote the product.
Looks quite cool right? I mean, how much time does it save? But what I found funniest really was the Customer Reviews. It ranked a four out of five stars, and really, there were many – hundreds – of votes. The comments were the best though!
Wow is this thing great! I use it as a “mini-bar” when the friends and I go out to the bars. I can quickly fix multiple shots of tequila for myself and the friends as we drive from one bar to the next. We also discovered that if you place a pillow on top of it and turn on the cruise control you can catch quick naps on the interstate. If you swerve to the left or right the rumble strips on the road wake you up in plenty of time before you get into trouble. I can now take longer trips without being tired! – T. Meadows
This has been a total lifesaver. It allows me to prop my sheet music against the wheel, allowing me to play the guitar with both hands while driving. – Brent A Nelson
This item is awesome! I have been waiting for something like this since I have been able to legally drive and drink! Why only 4 stars you ask? Well, I do feel the manufacturers should have added a slight adhesive to the surface of the product. Everytime I had to make a quick turn to avoid a dog, pedestrian, or building my glass of scotch slid off and spilled all over me. I drink Johnny Walker Blue Label and on a long trip this tends to add up to a lot of wasted alcohol. Just add some adhesive and I’ll be a happy camper(and driver!). – Carlo Monte
Still not sure what these people are getting at? Well, just look at the pictures below which were uploaded to the item’s Customer Image gallery.
Hehe I think the customers on Amazon have a great sense of humour. Of course, the people selling the items never asked you to drive while using it. It would be great if you were, say, waiting for your girlfriend of boyfriend, sitting in the car park in between meetings etc.
But it was a good laugh anyway. At least I thought so!
