Merdeka Train Party: Dressing up a train!
Tanggal tiga puluh satu …
Oh, sorry, I must have got carried away. Well, truth be told, I’m not feeling the Merdeka mood too much. I wonder if it’s because everyone’s been focusing on the impending (well, it’s here now) Ramadhan that we’ve forgotten that it’s also Merdeka Month!
Sure, we hear Ministers talk about a low-key Merdeka Parade because of the fasting (I think they are all just scared of H1N1!) but I haven’t seen too many flags flying about yet, and cars seem to be flag free too.
Well, it’s a good thing then that my friend Zain HD (yes, the nutcase I often refer to on this blog) is such a patriotic person. He has planned for RandomActs (a collective of people who organise er, random acts and activities around town) to celebrate Merdeka in a big way!
I have always supported Zain’s projects because I know he puts a lot of effort into it, and his intentions are great. Not to mention, it’s always a lot of fun (anyone remembers KL Freeze in Unison last year or the more recent Corntoz Pillow Fight?). I also won’t pretend anymore that I’m not in on it, the fact that my blog posts are pulled to feature on RandomAlphabets.com (the collective’s online site) is a dead giveaway, I suppose.
But I digress. This Merdeka, we are planning one heck of a party – and it will be a moving one too. Yup, the Merdeka Train Party means that we will be partying on trains and wishing all Malaysians a happy independence day.
The details are on this public invite available on RA’s site but here’s a quick brief:
Imagine decorating the interior of a house for a birthday party. Now that is exactly what RA will do (in a few public trains!) on 31st August 2009 . You’re invited to join in. Anyone & everyone. We will decorate the interior of the trains. We will meet at 2pm for a briefing, somewhere convenient in KL.
To participate, you cannot RSVP via Facebook. Find out how by reading EVERYTHING here.
Of course, this being an RA event means that there will be a flashmob element to it! Please join us. I will post more as the day approaches (well, it’s not too long away now!) but as you can tell, very, very exciting!
